Ongoing Programs

Partnership with Local Schools
We work with teachers, educational leaders, and administrators to bring educational programs into the classroom, and then to bring students to Eden Place for hands-on experiences with nature. Visit our Field Trips Information Page to schedule a group visit to Eden Place, or contact us if you would like more information about the range of programs that we conduct with schools and community groups.

Nature Restoration
The primary focus at Eden Place is cultivating healthy, thriving and biologically diverse ecosystems. We care for our plants using only organic methods and we focus on cultivating native plant species that will provide habitat for local wildlife. Our current efforts focus on providing habitat for internationally migrating species such as the Monarch butterfly. Learn more about our status as an official MonarchLIVE site.

Raising Farm Animals
This year at Eden Place we are host to a flock of eleven ducks and a flock of twenty-six chickens. Visitors have the opportunity to interact with the animals and learn about the role of animals in our food system.  Within the next few months we will have farm-fresh eggs ready to sell and share with community members.

Seasonal Activities

Educational Workshops
As a community-based educational institution, we strive to provide learning opportunities that are relevant to local community members. We run workshops focused on topics such as urban composting, soil and water testing, making green cleaning products, and organic gardening.  See our calendar for details about upcoming workshops.

Community Events
We host a number of community events and festivals throughout the year. Past events include Earth Day Celebration, Open House, Octoberfest and our Family Holiday Fun Fest.  See our calendar for more information about upcoming community events.

Leaders in Training Program
This year marks the first year of our summer youth program, Leaders in Training (LIT).  (Sponsored by  the International Programs of the U.S. Forest Service).

Our LIT participants work as entrepreneurs, growing organic produce that they will sell at farmers' markets and to local restaurants throughout the summer. They also engage in nature conservation and community service at Eden Place and within the neighborhood.
